Canada is a culturally diverse and dynamic, geographically expansive country, with a well structured set of social values, political organisations, economic formations, and research institutions. Canada’s post World War Two position as a ‘middle power’ with the ability to mediate between global superpower and localised interests, has in recent years, gained world wide interest, particularly in terms of social policy, but also in terms of scientific research excellence and economics. As the recent opening of the Aga Khan Global Centre for Pluralism in Ottawa demonstrates, Canadian ideas have a worldwide scope. Canada offers outstanding opportunities for research and academic interest in a wide range of disciplines and fields of study.
The Canadian Studies Centre at Fatih University aims to bring together scholars and researchers across a wide range of interests, to study issues of interest within Canadian contexts, and also in relation to other nations, areas, identities and disciplines. We hope to produce fruitful academic interactions between Canadian and Turkish scholars with a broad range of interests such as, but certainly not limited to, political identities and social/legal constructs, economic issues, scientific research, environmental issues, international relations, linguistic issues and historical studies.
